Why do we celebrate GOOD FRIDAY

Good Friday is observed to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It’s a solemn day in the Christian calendar, marking the sacrifice believed to have redeemed humanity’s sins. The term “Good” refers to the day’s sacredness and its spiritual significance — not that the events were joyful.

Historically, it’s rooted in early Christian tradition and has been observed since at least the 4th century. It falls on the Friday before Easter Sunday, as part of the Holy Week.

Though not universally a public holiday in India, states like Kerala, Goa, and Nagaland observe it officially due to significant Christian populations.

From a sociological angle, the ritual of mourning, silence, and prayer on Good Friday symbolizes collective memory, grief, and hope — key elements in any community’s cultural and moral fabric.

The Fall of Adam and Eve

Long ago, before the world was as we know it today, God created the first man, Adam. He shaped Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. Then, God placed him in a beautiful paradise called the Garden of Eden. The garden was filled with lush trees, colorful flowers, and flowing rivers. Adam had everything he needed—food, water, and peace. However, something was missing. He was alone.

Seeing this, God decided to create a companion for Adam. While Adam was asleep, God took one of his ribs and formed Eve, the first woman. When Adam awoke, he was overjoyed to see her. They lived happily in the garden, enjoying its beauty and taking care of the plants and animals.

In the center of the garden stood two special trees: the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam and Eve, “You may eat the fruit of any tree except the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. If you eat from it, you will surely die.” Adam and Eve obeyed and lived peacefully.

However, one day, as Eve wandered near the forbidden tree, she saw a serpent coiled around its branches. This was no ordinary serpent—it was cunning and full of deceit. The serpent whispered to Eve, “Why don’t you eat the fruit? It will not harm you. Instead, it will open your eyes, and you will become like God, knowing good and evil.”

Eve hesitated, but the fruit looked so tempting. Curiosity got the better of her. She reached out, plucked the fruit, and took a bite. Then, she offered it to Adam, who, though hesitant, also ate it.

The moment they ate the fruit, something strange happened. They suddenly felt ashamed of their nakedness and covered themselves with leaves. When God came to visit them, Adam and Eve hid among the trees. But God called out, “Where are you?”

Trembling, Adam and Eve stepped forward. God asked, “Did you eat from the tree I commanded you not to eat from?” Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent.

God was deeply saddened. Because they had disobeyed, He punished them:

  • The serpent was cursed to crawl on its belly forever.
  • Eve would suffer pain in childbirth.
  • Adam would have to work hard for his food, for the earth would no longer give freely.

Then, God banished them from the Garden of Eden. He placed a mighty angel with a flaming sword at the entrance so they could never return. Though they had lost paradise, God still loved them and provided them with clothing before they left.

Thus began the journey of humanity, learning from its mistakes and seeking redemption.

Oxygen, Remdesivir and Corona

My life and routine has been in tatters ever since my friend got admitted for #CovidSOS #COVID19India I have not slept well since last 5 days, have got thousands of call and have been attending that. Have called every big person I know. And have managed to pull him out of danger. He is fine now.

Have got help from people in BJP, JDU, Congress and many other parties. Have got help from people who love BJP and RSS. And have helped them too.

I will not make fun of anyone. But when you go to a hospital, you will get to see death and sorrow. Your heart will break.

You are fine till you have covid but recovering from Home. Just pray that you don’t need hospitalization.Because, there is no oxygen, life saving medicines and your life is just dependent on the important contacts you have which can arrange this.

Govt. and Hospitals have failed. Today you are alive, tomorrow you can die. Because govt, system, and whatever you call this has failed you.

They are also trying it hard. But the fact is, you are digging a well when fire has engulfed you from every corner.

And Remember everyone who loved and helped you.

And one last thing, when everyone has their life dependent on oxygen and life saving drugs, I will hardly care about #routine #Protocol #schedule and #MannKiBaat because these are not important, life and citizens are !

I will not waste even a minute on such nonsense talks!

I dedicate this poem to the people of the world who feel for the humankind, and to the blessings of Geeta Madam & Vinay Sir,and to the love of the people who consider that I could write, AND to the inspiration of terrific poetry of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar ji & Harivansh Rai Bachchan ji. I am Happy !
