Shaon Malik was just 21 Yrs of age.
He was a topper of his batch of the electrical engineering at IIT Kharagpur. He was in 3rd year. He was academically gifted and used to score 9+ cgpa. For the reference , my cgpa was between 6-7.5 for the entire duration of BTech. He was part of Bengali Dramatics society and was very active in extra-cocurricular activities.
😭He was found hanging by the iron grill of the window of his hostel room.
He was a resident of Azad Hall of Residence. It is just near the trinity of Azad, Patel and Nehru halls.
❤️🩹It breaks my heart to read such news. What could have been wrong with the boy. He looked neither academically stressed nor lonely.
✍️Indian education system and society have to look within and stop pressuring our sons and daughters to such high expectations.

Alma Matters: Inside the IIT Dream on #netflix is a must watch for everyone, specially for students from #iitkharagpur
Few points where I connected the most are:
1. Some 6 pointers called #Chaggi are so chilled out. I was one of them. Our gang enjoyed a lot. We had our fears deep within. But somehow did not get intimidated or consumed by that.
2. ILLU is the most beautiful and unique feature of IIT Kharagpur. It can not be found elsewhere on this planet.
3. The pressure during placements is real, and extremely stressful. Few of us struggled to get placed even after a month. And we waited for our opportunity. I sat in 15 Interviews. Almost lost the confidence in myself. Ironically, I am a very vocal, extrovert and super confident person.
4. Depression and stress is prevalent. Some show it, some manage it and some quit the life on it. I met one of the batchmate in Patna. We greeted and talked. He had scored 7.6 SGPA. I had scored 6.2, After 15 days, I got the news that he committed suicide. And I remember what he said when we met: Yaar, 7.6 thik hai, ghar wale chahte hain ki kam se kam 8.5 to aaye.
5. I personally know some friends who were extremely good in Coding, and we called them Gods. A few were so engrossed in video game called #CounterStrike that they failed in semester exams, got year back, got late placements yet they are doing so well in life. I know few people who were careless, managed to get their Degree, later became serious in life and became civil servants.
6. Gurukul setup of IIT KGP makes it unique, unlike other campuses. I have been to IIT Bombay and have seen how different it is from IIT Kharagpur.
7. I always believed that some of my batchmates are good in studies and will get success based on that. I am more capable in other aspects, and will get success when my time comes. Success is very subjective, although. The message in the series is clear. You are unique, so is your journey. Embrace it. Do not fear failure. Failure should not consume you. When I look back and suggest you to look back, then you will realise, success or failure are part of journey. IIT makes you resilient. If you are ready, open your arms, you can conquer the world.
I always wanted to write a book on IIT Kharagpur and the life that we enjoy there. It was meant to be realistic like Gangs of Wasseypur. Not like Half Girlfriend of Chetan Bhagat. I am happy that this series on Netflix does some service in that direction.

बिहार : मुश्किलें और मज़बूरी
कल ये लिख रहा था. डायरेक्ट फेसबुक पर. फ़ोन हैंग हुआ और मैं खिन्न हो गया. फिर से कोशिश।
ये बात थोड़ी अचंभित करेगी आपको लेकिन सत्य है. मैंने दुनिया ज्यादा नहीं देखी है.जब भी कहीं जाने का मौका मिलता है, वो जगह नयी होती है मेरे लिए. मैं जहाँ भी जाता हूँ, खुश और दुखी होता हूँ. वहां की अच्छाई लिखता हूँ और साथ ही अपने बिहारी होने का दर्द भी. यकीं मानिये ये दर्द बहुत भयानक होता है.
सब लोग कहते हैं की बिहार पिछड़ा है, बिहारी देश विदेश मजदूरी करने जाते हैं. इसमें सबकुछ सत्य है. इसलिए ज्यादा चोट करता है. BIMARU states में बिहार, MP, UP, और राजस्थान आते हैं. बिहार तथाकथित जंगल राज के लिए जाना जाता है. MP वह राज्य है जो बलात्कार, अब तक के सबसे भयानक हत्या के syndicate वाला VYAPAM और आदिवासियों के उत्पीड़न के लिए जाना जाता है. राजस्थान जाटों का गढ़ है, जहाँ भंवरी देवी जैसी विश्व कुख्यात घटनाएँ हुवी हैं. यहाँ अक्सर दलितों का उत्पीड़न जाटों द्वारा, की न्यूज़ आती है. UP पिछले एक दो साल से ज्यादा चर्चा में है. 2017 ज्यादा दूर नहीं है. western UP जाटों का गावं है. वहां न्यूनतम अधिकार भी नहीं है गरीब और दलितों के पास. 2013 में दंगे में जो मुस्लमान मारे गए वो बहुत गरीब और खेतिहर मजदुर थे. हरियाणा तो खैर हमेशा से उदंड रहा है ऐसे मामलों में.
बिहार की बात करें तो यहाँ जाति आधारित नरसंहार हुआ है. मेरे बहुत से मित्र हैं जिनके रिश्तेदार रणवीर सेना में थे। इन पढ़े लिखे लोगों को भी कतई अफ़सोस नहीं रहा है. लालू यादव जो “ललुआ”, ” भलुआ” हुआ करते हैं बड़कों के लिए, ने ऐसा कुछ किया है जो वहां रहने वाला और भुक्तभोगी ही समझ सकता है. जहाँ क्रिमिनल को दबंग कहा जाये और सीना तान कर परिचय कराया जाये, वहां से एक ग्वाले का बेटा गरजता है तो बहुत दबे कुचले का सीना चौड़ा हो जाता है. यदि आप दूसरी तरफ के हैं तो आपको यकीं नहीं होगा, मुझे गाली भी देंगे और बेवकूफ कहेंगे। सब शिरोधार्य है.
लालू ने सामाजिक संरचना को बहुत सलीके से समझा है. इसी का नतीजा है की सब exit पोल फेल हो जाते हैं और इनका 190 सही हो जाता है. निसंदेह लालू ने चारा घोटाला किया. लेकिन जगनाथ मिश्रा को लोग भूल जाते हैं. लालू corruption के सिंबल हैं. क्यों ? क्या व्यापम इससे बड़ा नहीं है ? नयी नयी आई पंकजा मुंडे ने 200 करोड़ का चपत लगाया उसकी चर्चा है ? कलमाड़ी का 75000 करोड़, राजस्थान का 4 लाख करोड़, जोगी, तेलगी को भूल जाते हैं. बंगारू को भूल जाते हैं. बोफोर्स को भूल जाते हैं. मधु कोड़ा को भूल जाते हैं. खानदानी corrupt मारन परिवार, करूणानिधि परिवार को भूल जाते हैं ? मराठा क्षत्रप शरद पवार की हजारों कंक्रीट की इमारतों को भूल जाते हैं जो मुंबई में चमक रही हैं. यह वो इंसान है जो world sugar trade को 2 मिनट तक रोक सकता है. फिर लालू ही सबसे भ्रष्ट क्यों ?
कारण है. दोगली मीडिया। जहाँ आज भी बड़कों की पकड़ है. लालू जिसे openly मंच से गाली देते थे। यह सच है की बिहार को अंधेर करने में इनके गुर्गों का बड़ा हाथ है. शोरूम से गाड़ियां निकल लेते थे, लोगों का शाम के बाद निकलना खतरे से खाली नहीं था. मुझे नफरत थी इस इंसान से.लेकिन बड़े होने पर बहुत कुछ पता चला है. पवार पर कोई हाथ क्यों नहीं लगाता ? क्यूंकि वो भी जेटली की तरह लामबंदी का माहिर खिलाडी है.
अब आते हैं की अब लालू वापस आये हैं लाव-लश्कर के साथ तो क्या डरने की जरुरत है ? मेरे ख्याल से नहीं। क्यूंकि ये उनके survival का सवाल था. उनको सिख मिल चुकी है. ज़माना बदल गया है. हमेशा डाल-डाल और पात-पात के खेल में आगे रहने वाले को इतनी समझ जरूर है. कमान अब तेजस्वी के हाथों में सौपा जा चूका है और अब मोदी की रथ यात्रा देशभर में निकालने को ये देशी दबंग तैयार है. इसका आगाज़ बनारस से होना है जहाँ के गंगा मैया को छला है बड़बोले मोदी ने.
लालू ने बिहार को तब हाईजैक किया था जब राबड़ी देवी को थोपा था. इस जले से उबरे नहीं थे की बिहार का विभाजन हो गया. बच गया केवल खेत खलिहान वाला बिहार. और अनिश्चितता। धन्यभाग की नितीश मिले और पटरी साफ़ हो रही है.
बिहार पिछड़ा है और कई जगह ये गाली जैसा है. इसमें कोई दो राय नहीं है. आज भी हर शहर में बिहार के बंधू मिल जायेंगे। रिक्सा चलते, फुटपाथ पर सोते, और बदतर हालत में रहते। ट्रैन में भीड़, मेट्रो में भीड़, मुंबई लोकल ट्रैन में भीड़ सब जगह देखें जा सकते हैं. लेकिन यह भी है की सबसे ज्यादा IAS, इंजीनियर, डॉक्टर, IITians भी हमारे बन्धु हैं. हम पॉश या एवरेज से अच्छी जगह रहते हैं, काम करते हैं, लोकल लोगों को रोजगार देते हैं, उनके रोटी का इंतेज़ाम करते हैं। जब हम गन्दी बस्ती से गुजरते हैं तो नाक पर रुमाल रख लेते हैं. दिल्ली में ढाबा पंजाबी चलाते हैं, ठेली वो भी लगाते हैं. और दिन भर मख्खी मारते रहते बेरोजगार मकान मालिक इन मजदूरों के शोषण से अपने घर का चूल्हा जलाते हैं.दिल्ली सरकार इनके बुते बनि. लक्ष्मीनगर, मुख़र्जी नगर और JNU हमारा है.लेकिन ये भी सच है की हमारे बिहारी मजदुर भाई को डांट और थप्पड़ पड़ता है और मजबूरन हमें चुप रहना पड़ता है.
कमी कहां है ? कमी है. हम लोगों में business सेंस कम है. हम नौकरी के पीछे भागते हैं. फिर पलायन और प्रवास कैसे रोक सकते हैं. गुजरात को जैन और गुजरातियों ने आगे किया. महाराष्ट्र को भी बनाया। देश के बड़े उद्योग पर साउथ इंडियन , मारवाड़ी, पंजाबी, जैन और ऐसे ही सब का कब्ज़ा है. बॉलीवुड भी पंजाबी, बंगाल और गुजराती चलाते हैं. मतलब, की कमी अपने में है. जब एक अच्छा खासा पढ़ा लिखा लड़का दिल्ली आता है तो आधी कमाई गुजर बसर करने में लगा देता है. वही, यहाँ का 15 साल का लौंडा business में हाथ लगाता है और जब पैसे कमाने लगता है तो तीर भेदता है की तुमने पढ़ के क्या कर लिया।
अब आते हैं मूल बात पर. बिहार में एक भी ऐसा शहर नहीं है जिसके साफ सुथरे और सुन्दर होने पर हमें नाज़ हो. हर राज्य में ऐसे अनेक शहर हैं जहाँ घूम कर अच्छा लगता है. कई तो BIMARU राज्य में हैं. नितीश जी ने पटना तक को अच्छा नहीं किया. वहां धूल ही धूल है. गांधी मैदान तो गन्दगी का सिरमौर है. ऐसा एक दो शहर तो बनायें कम से कम. यहां की शिक्षा व्यवस्था की बात आये तो नक़ल करते, चार-दिवारी फांदते लोग हमारी किरकिरी करते हैं. शिक्षा मित्र अनपढ़ से भी बदतर होने का प्रमाण देते हैं.
अब अंतिम बात. क्या सबके लिए लालू दोषी है ? नही. फिर उन बिहार केसरी और जननायक ने क्या किया ? उन्हें क्यों नहीं गाली देते ? यही जातिवाद है, जो हमें डुबो रहा है. जब देश 90 % पिछड़ों और दलितों का है तो बिहार कैसे अपवाद हो. उनके हित को धयान में रखने वाला कैसे नहीं जीतेगा ? क्या मोदी और उनके गुर्गे जीत जाते तो अच्छा था ? उनकी candidates की लिस्ट देखिए. एक नंबर के छटें हुवे गुंडे बदमाश को प्रत्याशी बनाया था. वो जीत कर आते तो क्या आतंक नहीं मचाते। क्या वो गुंडाराज नहीं होता। क्या वो जंगलराज नहीं होता। बिलकुल होता. साथ में होता मंदिर, गाय, गोबर और मुहफटो की नौटंकी। देश में क्या कम विकास किया है इन भज भाजियों ने ?
निष्कर्ष ये है की. बिहार का फेल होना आज का नहीं है. यह सोच का फेल होना है. collective failure है. एक बिहारी होने के नाते इसका उपाय ढूंढे और शर्म को ओढें. ना की ओछी मानसिकता और दम्भ के चूर होने का मातम मनाएं. इस हमाम में सभी नंगे हैं. सबसे ज्यादा नंगे वो हैं जो खून की खेती करते हैं और लाशों का नाश्ता करते हैं. उनकी जयकार करनी बंद करें। अच्छा और उचित पढ़े, ताकि सोच, इन नेताओं के झांसे में ना आये, ग़ुलाम ना हो !
एक बिहारी के नाते, मन में बहुत दुःख है की :
सबके घर में चोर हुवे पर सबका बहुत विकास हुआ
कैसे कैसे चोर हुवे, जो पाटलिपुत्र इतिहास हुआ !

Patel Hall, DTE (IIT Kharagpur): Lovely Memories
When i came to Patel Hall (famous for its terror in IIT Kharagpur) i never realized that it would give me never lasting memories.And then in wing DTE-known as D top east.Here i stayed for 3 years.We did loads of masti and fun.Now it feels that these 2 years were very short .Alas..!! i could have more years to spend here.

I am putting a short write up on our lovely wing DTE.
To recollect the past two years in DTE is nothing less than a journey. This has been a place which has housed 13 souls who have been extensively apart in their deportment and other aspects yet have been so very together throughout this period. When they joined hands together to come to DTE, there was nothing but promises of the marvellous days to look forward to. And beyond any sort of dubiety, it can be declared that the days spent here have given a lot to look back to for all the 13 souls who have inhabited this place.
Let us list some of the memorable things achieved in this wing:
- The “mid-wing conferences” on the cot in front of Sumit’s room…
- The Puri Trip in 3rd year winter…
- No dearth of photography sessions – camera in every room or the other…
- The “HP-wing”…
- Golu’s Anime affairs, much to the frustration of others…
- The gult songs blowing full volume in three rooms…
- The “watery” GPLs on birthdays…
- Mandal da’s endless funda sessions…
- The mega Job treats…
- The wonderful moments when the wing was painted with lovely caricatures and quotes…
- The highly acclaimed wing-treats to juniors and Hall mates at the end of it all…

Out of these 13 STUDS 7 graduated in 2008 and remaining in 2009. Reason that these 6 were B.Tech + M.Tech students. So by Gods grace and luck they had another year of masti and fun. They wrote more interesting stuffs about themselves which is very hilarious and creative .This on line portal is archiving our great life spent in IIT Kharagpur.
Motive is that all the students who were in campus can relate with our fun filled life.Idea is that when we get older and look down the memory lane and visit this blog we get nostalgic.
I hope you Guys find this interesting and do not complain that your filthy past is being displayed here.

That Weak and Thin Girl
I always analyze myself.I give a thought everytime i go to bed that what i have done today is right or wrong..??? the job i did is right or wrong..??? and i always try to find the answers.i feel enthusiatic doing this analysis but some time regret doing that and feel guilty.this is how, i am very balanced and am fully responsible for my deeds….!
I read TOI (Times of India).I am not advertising rather suggesting that everybody must read a newspaper.It will keep you attached to the nooks-corners of this damn world .vocabullary building,improved literature,time pass,movie review are the benefits you can get by doing just this little thing .
It had an article about confessions of women who were ditched,love-mourned by their spouses.These were strong,professional,modern,upperclass houswives,media personnel and so so.They had gone to realization of prism of relationship.They now know how bad the color of rainbow is when love-lorn are ditched.These are blessed one but they also suffer.some said you are fortunate if you have never been in any relationship.
They are also feared,traumetised,insecured.they say that we are weak.just think if this is the situation with them then how in this world were ship-herd like women who are illiterate wolud be behaved.Just thinking about this your spine will be chilled to horror of experiences .!!!
They have faced the truth staring into their face.they are couragious,still they are physically, mentaly,emotionaly harashed.how could these world-awared ladies can allow someone to let them abuse for years..???.
strange..!!! they do because they are weak.they are helpless.they can climb the ladder of success again and again but at the end they are living at the mercy of these scoundrals called “male” and male based world.I cursed GOD who made these vultures.They are single again status women cursing their life and relationship..!
In IITs so called females are very few to count.so called because they are biological female not in looks,in manners,dresses and attitudes.If you happen to be stranger and land up in IIT campus you will find this race.Go to social gathering places like canteen,cafeteria and to your upmost strange a girl would be standing beside you in a pair of trousers,goggles,skin tight T-shirts,boby hair cutt,no curves and you would be counfused by her aroma to say least that its a boy or girl..???
so i am lucky that a few of these species are my batchmate.when i came in IIT i would fantacise that aahh !! i would have lab partner,romance,going movies,chatting with them,dream date but GOD you are so unkind to us.
One day she was sitting on 1st row bench and i on second.Then came my huge batchmate.He is so macho-look guy .He sat beside her but maintaining proper distance as much was possible.
I was watching both of them.Girl who has average look,thin hands,very thin and small body length .on the other hand the guy is almost double her size,triple in thickness of hand and macho look.
I thought suppose he says to her “oye…ugly bitch get off from here and go to hell”.
what she would say..???is it her mistake that she is weak..???.she has no control on the way she is made.so why should she suffer.???she can’t slap that guy because she is weak.she can’t abuse him because she could be stolen rather stripped off with her modesty by that beast.so she is destinned to be abused and traumetised.she is helpless.God has made her like that.
Just thinking that i cursed the GOD.
When ever i read a news about a girl being raped,physically abused,slapped,her face burned by throwing acid on her face i cry and cry…I curse GOD who has cursed these women.
if some idiot has fallen in love or lust and girl doesn’t reciprocate then he rapes her,throw acid on her face or even can go to the extreme of murdering her.is it girl’s mistake that she is girl..????
i say no .this is curse of GOD.GOD is so biased.why dont he makes the girls same powerful as boys are.Why only women can give birth to kids..?? why they only can be impregnanted..??? why they are so weak and classical..??? all these question are there to be answered…!!!
GOD you are so unsympathetic and biased. What is your intension..??? Just tell me .I will never curse you.
