  4. No one really knows if they are jealous of Biharis, or despise them for their achievements. Bihari folks are the most hardworking community in the country. They are good students and indeed secure a good number of seats in most top ranking institutes of the country.

Biharis steal all white collar jobs

When it comes to jobs also, most white collar jobs go to Biharis, they are IAS toppers, get through to IITs and IIMs, and all of this is possible because they patiently toil through years, sometimes even by dropping out.

They get placed in the best MNC’s and government corporations, and in every respect, they deserve to hold the positions where the country sees them. We cannot despise them of debauchery as an excuse of our own laziness.

We are all for the principle of merit-comes-first, right?

It is really a good site and of course a platform for them to learn who just criticise Bihar and its people. But I would like to tell one thing that its we who need to think about the present situation of Bihar. What we call educated and talented people, they leave Bihar and don’t want to see back. Its really embarrassing. The progress and development is the combined effort of everyone.

  8. Bihar has one of the oldest well documented history among all places in the world. here are some of the facts about Bihar.
    1. First republic in the world was in Bihar “Vaishali”
    2. ‘Non-Violence’, the most enchanting thought in the history of mankind first emanated from this land of Bihar. The Buddha and Mahavira, the pioneering propagators of this idea, pronounced this solemn solution of human suffering about 2600 years ago and resonate even today to brace humanity. Bodh Gaya and Pawapuri have become symbolic places to engage to this uplifting mood.
    3. Four out of the five greatest emperors in India belonged to this part, namely Samudragupta, Ashoka, Vikramaditya and Chandragupta Maurya.
    4. Bihar in the ancient period was the epicenter of learning, culture and power. The city Pataliputra from this state was an integral part of Indian civilization. Bihar houses the Nalanda University, which is the world’s oldest university and had students from across the world.
    5. 3 major religions of the world namely Buddhism, Jainism and Sikkhism has its root in bihar. guru govind singh was born in patna.

    7. One of the most fertile plain of the world.
there are plenty of facts and trivia about bihar which will topple you over out of bewilderment and leave you flabbergasted. unfortunate thing is that, much of it’s glory is lost in present day because of foreign interventions and greedy internal politics. Even though a lot of talent is coming out of Bihar, excelling world over in different fields, the condition of life inside the state if pittyful and a sincere effort from well doing biharis in different parts of the world and other people as well is needed to resurrect the ancient glory. I am very sure that in near future Bihar will again rise as the baton holder for the new age enlightenment of humanity and drive the world efforts towards greater good.

  14. While I have no offence with any state, I cant understand with all this goodness why is Bihar lagging behind in development and progress. Mungher gets only 4 hours of electricity, I have lived there. Bihar has high rates of leprosy even today. I have worked in a Leprosy hospital in Bihar. Government school system is a non-entity. Children pack their bags and go to tuition centres, not schools. I myself have wondered at the lush green fields and extreme poverty co-existing in the same state with all the rain it receives!! Why dont all the graduates and doctors and IIT-ians and IAS officers come to Bihar make it a prosperous state. Who is stopping them? Why are all these people living outside Bihar and contributing their talent and expertise to other states? While all the ‘proud’ facts may be true, it is also true that Bihar has the lowest GDP in India. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_states_by_GDP. Are politicians the only cause? Politicians have looted in all the states of this country. Even the so-called developed states like Tamil Nadu has seen decades of looting political leaders. How different is Bihar? Just to let you know that numbers even from reputed sources can be misleading if taken out of context.

Fine we have iitians ,IAS ,doctors and off course business men like Anil Agarwal but not sports persons like sehwag ,abhinav bindra , model, army personals and many more.

  19. I totally agree with my friends about their views on Bihar. Now,time has come to “Walk the Talk”. May be its correct that Bihar has many negative points but every country is not perfect.Perfection comes from its own people. We have to work for our state and so, we will able to contribute for our country. The above facts about Bihar does not show any greatness but it shows one thing that its soil has some miracle. We have to identify them and publish before world. We have to identify our strengths and supress our weaknesses.

We Engineers have to move forward for our corrupt and backgrowth state to provide the status of where it should be. We should not retreat in voting. We should move forward to encourage selection of politicians with our logic.

Also, instead of rushing out of this state ,we should involve ourselves here to make it better.

  20. Wow that’s great and really true.
Have Indian’s(Except those from Bihar) forgot contribution of Bihar in Indian development From Ancient times till date and is still continuing.

In Every aspect of Indian development –
    agriculture,
Industries-TATA, BOKARO, COAL MINES, URANIUM, MICA etc
    Politics-Dr. Rajendra prasad, Jaiprakash narayan … . . . .
    Films- satrughn sinha, manoj bajpai………
    Education and Higher education-Endless….
    Administration,
    Labor class,
    Buisness,
and whatever other things you can think of, you will find Bihari there, both at highest post as well as lowest post.

But What Govt. has given to Bihar in these 63 years?

    Unemployment,
    No industries,
    No higher education institution,
    none Central University,
    No Infrastructure,

And with all these although, Bihais are great, they are forced to migrate to other states and face humiliation.

    Why?

“Analytical power used to misrepresent the facts is unethical in a civilized society.”

This is a very well fabricated comment.

This is what all politicians around the world have been doing since 1000 or more years. 🙂

  24. Wow….we have one more who do not vote….if you do not choose what you like, do not complain.
Around 50% populations are illiterate, actual population……is an excuse. Do not blind yourself of their existence. It will be a very humble acceptance; we are responsible for the state we are in.
Everyone call themselves politician in Bihar, except some politician who exists or not, I doubt.

I don’t vote because i don’t find any politician intelligent and smart enough to be my leader. Except a few whom i can’t choose as they are from “Rajya Shabha”.

These rascals do not give chance/seat to a guy from IITs/IIMs due to their lobbeing. When ever i will get these candidates i will vote for them.

When almost 50% of population is illiterate then actual population which represent aspirants from UPSC is not more than many states.

Politicians are not so called, actualy they are 😛

Most of the people have least analytical power and i call them stupid.

  26. So called politicians by you are one of us, chosen by us. It’s really easy to pass on the baton of ill performance onto them. We forget that it is our responsibility to have right representation in democracy.
Being a Bihari I may sound antagonist, but let me make a point…..
30 out of 300 is 10% ….fine….but at the same time don’t forget that we have around 8% of the population……and that in no way says that we are producing 250% more than what we should produce. Once try to think it that way too.

Stupidity is one’s perspective,we cannot change that.

  27. I have already Clarified about statistics and source.

If out 0f 300 odd seats 30 are from Bihar that becomes 10% and if that is produced by one state out of 35 states& UTs that becomes 250% more than any state shud produce. 🙂

And since there is no industry to work in Bihar (Credit to honest politicians )we are left with option of being labour/Farmer/Engineer/Doctor/Teacher and earn money so all guys who pass out from IITs soon join job and serve their parents.

That’s why we have less no of IITians from Bihar ,if you say so, in IIMs. If you can compile a data base of IITians working in companies you will say wowwwww so many of us.

I guess this is a collective mistake that young and smart people of India like cool and peaceful life. They say politicians are idiot and later say same for us. So we need to rise for the ocassion not only in Bihar but for whole India.

I see the ray of hope in this awarness because of the win of UPA on same agenda.

    Cheers and Thanks for comments.

  28. Statistics unreliable.

Even if they are true, we have nothing to boast of. If we have 20-30 selection in civil Services each year just check what fraction of those who appeared made it through. If we are so exceptional in IITs why the same figure is not reflected in IIMs.

Yes Bihar is a great place but you cannot keep boasing on your past. Move on……
The present state of Bihar and future course needs a lot of introspection. I believe we need to break away from our archaic mindset which revolves around around all negative things which I don want to mention here.

    Let’s be pragmatic.
Let’s have a constructive participation for a progressive Bihar.

  29. Thanks for commenting Umarji.
My friend sent me a mail and i just pasted it here. So I am not sure about statistics. But one thing i would like to say that these facts are true, as I have experienced in my sphere of life .You pick any state or department and you would find most of the higher ranked/posted individuals would be from Bihar.

Since i am a graduate from IIT Kharagpur and have been to other IITs too, I know the brilliance of guys from Bihar. About administrative services, per say IAS, you should check the facts and it would come true.

Media exaggerate any damn thing. Truly speaking i don’t believe in Media and its authenticity. And honestly speaking propaganda might be. I am not a big FAN of Laloo yadav. But the accolade he is getting by just turning the face of Indian Railways speaks volume about a Bihari. Just think, if a so called and proved sometimes too, politician can create such a big impact on country level then just imagine the impact of an honest IAS officer from Bihar???

Rest analysis is up to you.
    Cheers

  30. Source of statistics? Are these demographics supported by Bihar Govt. studies?

Fake degrees are available easily in Bihar. That explains the greater number of graduates.

What is the percentage of literacy? Speak in percentage as opposed to absolute numbers.

The thing with statistics is this: if you have enough data, you can prove almost anything. Its easy to twist statistical data (even if the veracity can be confirmed)

If Bihar is such a heavenly place to live in, why do we constantly see contrary statements in all sorts of media? Is that media propaganda against Bihar?
